Idli podi is a dry side-dip eaten the same way across every South Indian home — small mound on the plate, oil/ghee pooled on top, idli or dosa dipped straight in. It’s one of the oldest things on the South Indian table and one of the easiest to get wrong.
Sesame is the backbone of this podi. Most commercial versions cut the sesame down because it costs more — we don’t. You can taste the difference immediately: roasted, nutty, slightly crunchy, with an aroma that smells like an actual kitchen, not a spice factory.
Roasted dals, sesame, red chillies. That’s the core. Hand-roasted in 5–7 kg small batches in T.Nagar, Chennai, and shipped within 10 days of roasting.
Shelf life: 7 months from manufacture date.
Storage Instructions: Store in a cool, dry place. Use only a dry spoon. Refrigerate to retain freshness for longer.

1. What’s the right way to eat Idli Podi?
Small mound on the plate, preferred oil poured on top, idli or dosa dipped in. That’s the classic. Ghee works as a substitute but sesame oil is the traditional pairing.
2. Can I use ghee instead of sesame oil?
Yes. Ghee gives it a richer, slightly sweeter finish. Sesame oil is the more authentic pairing and what most South Indian households use. Try both and see which you prefer.
3. What’s in it — and what’s NOT?
Bengal Gram, Urad Dal, Sesame Seeds, Red Chillies, Asafoetida & Salt. That’s all. No preservatives, no anti-caking agents, no MSG, no palm oil, no artificial colours, no flavour enhancers. Nothing we wouldn’t put in our own food.
4. How spicy is it?
Medium. Noticeable heat from the red chillies but not sharp or aggressive. Built for everyday eating — most people find it very manageable.
5. What’s the shelf life?
7 months from manufacture date, opened or unopened, stored dry. The manufacture date is printed on the pouch.
6. How do I store it after opening?
Transfer to an airtight glass or steel container. Keep dry, away from heat or sunlight. The pouch has a zip lock so a separate container isn’t mandatory. Refrigerating extends freshness further.
7. Is this vegetarian?
Yes. 100% vegetarian.
8. How long does delivery take?
Prepaid orders typically arrive within 48 hours in metros, 3–4 days for tier-2 cities. COD orders take 4–7 business days. We ship within 24 hours of order placement, six days a week.
9. Is COD available?
Yes, across India. There’s a ₹30 COD fee at checkout — skip it by paying via UPI or card. Prepaid usually arrives faster.
