For someone trying South Indian cooking — whether it’s your first time, or food you’ve eaten all your life and want at home.

Three podis you sprinkle on hot food: idli podi heavy with sesame, paruppu podi/dal podi smoothed with desiccated coconut and garlic, curry leaves podi from leaves we sun-dried for two days. Everything hand-roasted on a kadai in 5–7 kg batches, in T.Nagar, Chennai. Nothing we wouldn’t put in our own food.

Wedding Sambar Ready Mix

Step 1 — Sauté: In a kadai, heat 2 tablespoons of oil. Add 10 small onions (shallots) or 1 big onion and any vegetable of your choice. Sauté for a few minutes, then add 1.5 tablespoons (25g) of Wedding Sambar Ready Mix and 1 cup (200 ml) of water.

Step 2 — Cook: Allow it to boil for 7–8 minutes until it thickens to your desired consistency, or pressure cook for 2 whistles on medium flame.

Best with hot rice. Also works with idli and dosa.

Vegetables that work well: Drumstick · Brinjal · Shallots · Tomato · Carrot · Beans

Idli Podi

The classic — with idli or dosa: Spoon Idli Podi onto a small plate or directly beside your idli or dosa. Pour a generous drizzle of sesame oil over the podi and let it pool slightly. Dip and eat.

Sesame oil is not optional — it’s what makes the podi come together. Ghee works too, but sesame oil is the authentic pairing.

With hot rice: Serve hot rice on a plate. Add a small pool of sesame oil or ghee to the centre. Sprinkle Idli Podi over the rice. Mix and eat.

Dal Podi / Paruppu Podi

With hot rice (classic): Serve hot rice on a plate. Make a small well in the centre and add a coin-sized pool of ghee or sesame oil. Sprinkle Dal Podi generously over the rice. Mix well and eat.

The ratio is yours to choose — one generous spoon to start, more once you’ve eaten half the plate.

With buttermilk: Add half a teaspoon of Dal Podi to a glass of cold buttermilk. Stir well until dissolved. Drink immediately. Good for hot afternoons.

Curry Leaves Podi

With hot rice: Serve hot rice on a plate. Add a coin-sized pool of ghee or sesame oil to the centre. Sprinkle Curry Leaves Podi generously over the rice. Mix well and eat.

With curd rice: Mix hot rice with fresh curd to your preferred consistency. Dollop Curry Leaves Podi on top. Mix lightly and eat — or eat with the podi sitting on top for the texture.

With buttermilk: Add half a teaspoon of Curry Leaves Podi to a glass of cold buttermilk. Stir well. Drink immediately.

1. How long does delivery take?

Prepaid orders typically arrive within 48 hours in metros, 3–4 days for tier-2 cities. COD orders take 4–7 business days because of the extra COD verification step. We ship within 24 hours of order placement, six days a week.

2. Do you ship to my city?

We ship across India through Delhivery or Professional Couriers.

3. Is COD available?

Yes, across India. There’s a ₹30 COD fee at checkout — you can skip it by paying via UPI or card or netbanking. Same delivery time either way (and prepaid usually arrives faster than COD orders).

4. What if I don’t like it?

Email us at sales@friszon.com or WhatsApp 9500095444 within 7 days of delivery. We’ll refund you — including on opened pouches. We’re confident enough in the product to make this offer; we’d rather you tell us it didn’t work than feel stuck with it.

5. What’s the shelf life?

You ca check this in the product specification section.

6. Are these vegetarian?

Yes. All four products are 100% vegetarian.

7. What’s in them — and what’s NOT?

Each pouch lists its full ingredient list on the label. What’s NOT in any of them: no preservatives, no anti-caking agents, no fillers, no MSG, no palm oil, no artificial colours, no flavour enhancers. Nothing we wouldn’t put in our own food. We only sell what we ourselves would consume at home without any hint of hesitation.

8. How spicy is each one?

Idli Podi — medium. Paruppu Podi — mild. Curry Leaves Podi — medium. Wedding Sambar Mix — medium. None of them are aggressively spicy. Built for everyday eating, not for showing off chilli.

9. How do I make the sambar?

Boil water with chopped vegetables (drumstick, onion, tomato, whatever you have). Stir in the mix. Simmer for ten minutes. Step-by-step printed on the pouch — and there’s a QR code on the pack for a 60-second video walkthrough.

10. How do I store the pouches after opening?

Transfer to an airtight glass or steel container. Keep dry, away from direct heat or sunlight. The pouches themselves are food-grade and come with a zip lock so transfering is not mandatory. If refrigerated freshness stays intact for a longer time than if kept outside.

11. Can I send this as a gift to family abroad or in another city?

Yes — many of our customers do. We’ll ship to any India address with a recipient name and number. International shipping isn’t supported directly yet, but you can order to a relative’s address in India and they can carry it across. The kraft packaging travels well.

12. Can I buy individual pouches instead of the box?

Yes — visit our Shop page. The box gives you free shipping and is the simplest way to start; individual pouches ship at standard courier rates and if total order amount is above Rs.499 free shipping can be availed.

“Exactly the ‘Home Taste’ I was looking for!”

I’ve tried a few different brands of pre-made podis, but this combo box actually tastes like it came out of a grandmother’s kitchen. It’s been a total lifesaver for my weekday breakfasts.

    The Standouts:

The Wedding Sambar Mix: This is the real star. Usually, “instant” sambar tastes flat, but this has that thick, aromatic quality you only get at traditional functions. I just boiled some drumsticks and shallots, added the mix, and it was perfect.

Idli Podi: It has a great coarse texture (not too powdery) and a solid spicy kick. It’s fantastic with a little sesame oil.

Curry Leaves & Dal Podi: The Curry Leaves one is so fragrant—you can tell they used fresh leaves. The Dal Podi is my “lazy lunch” go-to; I just mix it with hot rice and ghee when I don’t have time to cook a full meal.

    The Packaging:
Everything arrived neatly packed, and the pouches are resealable, which is a huge plus for keeping the spices fresh and aromatic.

    Final Thoughts:
If you’re someone who craves authentic South Indian flavors but doesn’t have the time to roast and grind your own spices, just get this. It’s high quality, convenient, and tastes genuine. Definitely restocking once I run out!

Pros: Authentic aroma, saves tons of time, great variety.
Cons: The Sambar mix disappeared too fast because my family loved it!
